Do smart phones and children belong together? Part 2

As a follow up to my previous post on the topic, I thought I’d share a great article on some specific strategies for managing your child’s technology gadgets.

I was first introduced to Christine Carter, and her powerful work by our mutual friends, and I absolutely love her approach to parenting.  Her book Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents is a must read.

Here are some of her specific strategies for managing your child’s online presence and technology gadgets:

  • Test drive every app they use – by doing this you might ix-nay some of their faves, but oh well.
  • Keep their devices on your ITunes account, so you can track all activity
  • Teach them to only “friend” people that they know personally
  • Establish specific “technology free zones”, so that these devices aren’t permeating all of family life (i.e. not at dinner time, in the bedroom, etc.”

I encourage you to read her full article, to do so click here.

What have you found works in your home?
